Frequently asked questions
What is Good Air?
Good Air is a free weather and air quality app for iPhone and iPad, with Android on the way, and this website. It shows the live Air Quality Index from the nearest official monitoring station, health advice for the current level, forecasts and weather alerts, for 1,222 cities. Get the app.
Where does the air quality data come from?
From government monitoring networks: CPCB in India, the US EPA's AirNow, China's CNEMC, the UAE's NCM and EAD, Indonesia's KLH and BMKG, Thailand's PCD, Malaysia's DOE, Singapore's NEA and Vietnam's CEM, plus research stations shared through OpenAQ. Rankings never include modelled estimates.
How often is the AQI updated?
Most networks publish every hour, and our pages refresh every few minutes after they do. Each page shows when its reading was measured.
Which AQI scale does Good Air use?
The scale each country's government publishes: India's National AQI, China's AQI, and the US EPA AQI elsewhere. India and China pages also show the US AQI, which we use for world rankings. How the scales work.
Is Good Air free?
Yes. The app is free to download, with no account needed, and every page on this website is free to use.
